Abstract
This study was conducted to find out the mode of entry of Ancylostoma duodenale in human body, Eight adult persons who were detected no any hookworm eggs in their stool specimens by repeated tests were contributed for the study. Infective larvae of Ancylostoma duodenale were used for the material. Two hundreds larvae were given to each of 4 persons per os and another 4 persons percutaneously. After 3 months of the infection all of 8 experimental subjects were treated and all adult hookworms expelled. All amount of stools which were excreted during 3 days after the treatment were collected and all hookworms in them were detected by the means of washing. All numbers of hookworms in each person¢¥s stool were counted and adult worm rates were calculated.
The results obtained from this study were as follows:
1) In group of per os infection, total number of 19 adult worms were detected out of total number of 800 larvae of Ancylostoma duodenale which were given to 4 persons. So the adult worm rate showed as 2.4%.
2) In group of percutaneous infection, total number of 1 adult worm was detected out of 800 larvae of Ancylostoma duodenale which were given to 4 persons. So the adult worm rate showed as 0.1%.
3) By judging from the total number of 20 adult worms detected from all subjects , male and female worm ratio was 8 : 12.
